Monday Me: 18/08/2014

There are a lot of great things happening all around me and sometimes even to me in both my personal and work life, so every Monday, I’m going to be taking some time out to get a little personal and let you know the high and lows of my week as well as my plans for the coming week. I hope it’s something that you will like.

So the most exciting news would be the birth of my nephew. Born to my younger sister on 7 July 2014. A real cutie pie at 2.4kgs. It’s been almost 5 years since we’ve had a baby in the family so as you can imagine everyone is totally besotted. My memories of the sleepless nights and endless nappy changes are a bit hazy now and so little Theeyan has made me very broody. Whether a brother or sister for Jasmin and Teyla is in the books is still to be seen.

If you’ve read my post from last week, you will also know about my 66- 660 macaron debacle. I’ve managed to make use of a lot if them and let’s says that everyone is getting a lot of macaron love from me this week.

I was at the Go To Play Market held at Giba Gorge last Sunday as well. It was a beautiful day and super busy. I love the markets because it give me a chance to experiment with new flavours and ideas that I have and to use the market goers as my focus group. I made a whole lot of new flavoured cupcakes to try out. I mostly experimented with the buttercream flavours, making coloured vanilla sponges with buttercreams like cream soda, banana milkshake and bubblegum.

The hero of the day was definitely the Oreo- Peanut Butter brownie cupcakes. Two Oreos with peanut butter sandwiched between them and on top, and baked into a dark chocolate brownie cupcake. Deeelicious!

Going back a couple of weekends, I attended the annual Cookie Swap as well as a Craft workshop hosted by Nadia van der Mescht. These were both held on the same day and I enjoyed them too much to squeeze the details in here, so I’ll be doing a separate post on them.

This next week is going to be all about marshmallows and fudge. I’ve got some recipes that I’m eager to test out and I’ll be sure to take pictures along the way. I’m also starting on my Paleo eating plan today so I’m going to have to elect a few taste testers for feedback.

Have a great week everyone!
