Monday Me: Ending Off The Holidays With A Bang… Literally!

The holidays are over for me and I’m excited to get back into the groove again.

I really that thought that this post was going to be all about how I had my wisdom teeth removed and the changes to this blog for 2015, but the most utterly random and horrifying thing happened on Saturday.

After an awesome afternoon at North Beach with the kids and my family we were on our way home, driving along the freeway in convoy, minding our own business, when we saw a beyond drunk man ( I assume he was drunk from his wobbly walk) in the middle of the freeway. On a 2 lane road, and with cars to our left, Justin managed to swerve to the right and get out of the way of this lunatic but in a total twist of events the man threw himself against our car as we drove past, taking out the passenger review mirror and hitting our car with a thud ,and I will admit that I screamed like a girl.

We pulled over onto the shoulder of the freeway and Justin and the guys in the other car went over to check that the man was okay. It was this point that onlookers and witnesses told us about how he had been walking along the freeway from about a kilometer up, trying to attack cars as they drove past. It was crazy and I cannot fathom anyone being drunk ( or maybe high) enough to walk along the freeway attacking cars unless they had death wish or invincibility complex.

Luckily, the guy was fine with just a hurt elbow and a fractured ankle. I say fine, because I really think that those are minor injuries compared to what could have happened. He was taken away ,after a struggle, to the hospital by the paramedics and with a police escort.Justin made his statement to the police on site and are going to be getting the video footage from the scene to have a look external look at what happened.

I have to say thank you to my amazing husband for his quick thinking and reflexes that kept our family safe in this situation. Hopefully this is the first and last of these types of occurrences for 2015 and we have nothing but awesome times ahead!

If you’re still wondering about my wisdom teeth and want to see the embarrassing photos, I will be posting that tomorrow. 🙂
