Cakes, cakes and more cakes

I’ve been super busy these past couple of weeks, which is a good thing, because it means my business is growing. 🙂

There seemed to suddenly be an influx of orders for cakes. Now, my usual cake order is around 1 a week, with the bulk of my orders coming from macaron and cupcake and cake pops sales. ( not that I can’t bake a yummy cake 😉 ) This past week I had a total of 4 cakes on order in addition to my regular orders.

They ranged from picture cakes so a super chocolatey chocolate cake.

This one was for a little girl who knew exactly what she wanted. Chocolate sponge with light purple vanilla buttercream and butterflies. Her mother sent me a few photos of her, so I put together a little collage for the picture part of the picture cake.

These were the matching cupcakes.

This one is the second picture cake that was ordered, funnily enough also with light purple buttercream.

The chocolate one! This was by far the chocolatiest cake I’ve ever made. It was concentric rings of chocolate buttercream and dark chocolate ganache sandwiched between 2 layers of chocolate sponge. It was then covered in a rich chocolate buttercream and then the dark chocolate ganache again. And finally finished off with thin pieces of tempered chocolate around the outside. Chocolatey indeed!

This is the last one that I did, and by far the most fun to make. It was a Spongebob Squarepants themed cake. Chocolate sponge with vanilla buttercream and plastic icing and little sea shells in coloured white chocolate. I loved making the Spongebob, Patrick and Gary characters for the top of the cake.

And of course the cupcakes to match.

And that’s all 🙂

Pics of the Week: Catch Up! ( Mad Hatter Tea Party )

This post is way way overdue but better late than never. I had a client who was hosting a Mad Hatter Tea party and wanted macarons shaped like hearts, stop watches and tea cups. I had a lot of fun doing these, because anyone that knows me, knows that it’s orders like this that get me the most excited. So, I got to flex a few creative muscles and this was the result.

I especially love the tea cups. I made them using mini macarons and the handles were made using white chocolate. The saucer was made using mini Marie biscuits.

Pics of the Week : Catch Up! (Part 1)

I have been a bit remiss in my posting on the site, but not without good reason. I’ve been busy busy busy! No person that owns and runs their own business will ever complain about being too busy and I, by no means, am going to be the first 🙂

So needless to say I have a ton of new photos to post and I have definitely had fun flexing my creative muscles.

The Macaron of the Month Club has also launched so if you don’t know what it is, head over to the Macaron of the Month page and there you’ll be able to sign up as well.

These doughnuts were amazing. I made them using my Gran’s recipe. I’ll be posting the recipe soon 🙂

These are just a few or the pictures. I’ll be posting the ValentinesDay photos, as well as some from a Mad Hatter Themed party tomorrow and the next day so keep an eye out 🙂

Pic Of The Week: The Christmas/ Night Market @ The Helenic

The Night market was lots of fun. The hours were much shorter than the Christmas market last year which ran for 11 hours!

This was some of the prep followed by some pics from the market. We were asked to make our tables as festive as possible and I think I did a pretty good job 🙂

These are from the market

My happiest customer

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and that this new year will bring with it great memories and lots of yummy things to eat 🙂

All the best for 2104!

Pics Of The Week: Princess Sofia, A Kid’s Birthday and Star Wars

This week the orders were all about cake pops and macarons. From girly pink and lilac to StarWars themed cake pops.

20131120-085417.jpg These macarons were done with dark chocolate ganache in pink, purple and lilac for Jasmin and Teyla’s best friend Stephanie’s Sofia the First birthday party. Unfortunately my camera kinda sucks so the colors didn’t capture very well.

20131120-090133.jpg Star Wars Cake Pops – C-3PO, Chewbacca, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker ( love these! ) it’s the first character cake pops I’ve done so I was very happy with myself 🙂

The next 2 weeks are going to be exciting and busy as I’m planning my twins’ 4th birthday party. I’m doing as much as possible myself so I need to remember to take pics every step of the way.

Pics Of The Week: Diwali

My Diwali pictures are a bit late but better late than never right 🙂

Diwali this year was great. I was a little swamped during the week getting orders ready for collection but I am definitely not complaining. It just meant that baking for myself ended up being a little rushed.

Here are the pictures of the orders that I made as well as some of the Diwali gifts I put together.

12 Macarons in Burfee, Chana Magaj, Rose, Chai, Toasted Coconut and Elachi

The Boxes of 6 Macarons Ready To Be Packed

These are gifts that I put together to give to friends and family. They all had smackarons, macarons and mini cupcakes with burfee and chana magaj buttercreams.

Here are a few pictures of my beautiful family and our Diwali day.

Pics of the week: Polkadots and Jellytots

This past weekend I had a great time working on an order for Polkadots And Jellytots.

This party planning and candy buffet styling company is run by Nicky Abrahams and she definitely has a talent for putting things together in the most beautiful way.

The request was for everything is white and and yellow. Not too bright but not too pale either 🙂 I think it all came together beautifully.

She sent me some pictures from the event. I don’t think my products have ever looked this beautifully presented.
